The content
You have had the opportunity to look at the content of a public speech quite in-depth, in the previous lesson. So we will go over this topic very quickly with some final easy tips.
We sometimes try to say too much. It is normal to feel this pressure because the opportunity of being in front of these key people does not happen so often so you want to tell them everything! But try to resist this pressure. Identify your core message and stick with it.
Get their attention from the start! You know now a few strategies for how you could do that. Just remember: a strong beginning for your speech and getting a favourable impression from the start is very important for the success of your speech.
It is the best way to connect with people. Even statistics can be expressed by means of stories. Or if you speak about something inanimate, create a story about the people who operate that object. If it is about a mountain, mention the people that live under its shadow or try to climb it. If it is about laws, speak about the people who are impacted by them or the people who have to create them, or who have to operate with them in courts of law.
